The Montague Wildcat boys basketball team lost a close game to the Orchard View Cardinals on Tuesday night 52-54. A close first half saw the Cats take a narrow two point lead into the locker room at half time. Montague kept the lead after three but gave that up late in the fourth Quarter. Kenyan Johnston cut the lead to one for the Cardinals after hitting a three point shot with about 15 seconds remaining in the game. Montague fouled right away and Orchard View only hit one of two free throws. Down two, Montague had one last play set up and Chase Peterson had a good look at a three point shot in the right corner with three seconds to go, but it rattled off the rim and time expired with the Cats still down by two points.
Montague was led by Hunter Mosher with a 21 points and 13 rebounds. Sebastian Archer followed that with 17 points and led the team in steals with 5.
Montague hosts Mason County Central next on Thursday, February 8th at 7:00 in a West Michigan Conference matchup.
