The Wildcat Varsity basketball team picked up a West Michigan Conference win on Thursday night against the visiting Mason County Central Spartans. The Cats had another slow first quarter start, but that was followed by much more energy and work in the following three quarters to get the job done. Kenyan Johnston hit two free throws with 9 seconds remaining in the game, and with MCC having no timeouts left, sealed the victory for the Wildcats. The Spartans got one last shot off that went in with a few ticks of the clock left, but those went away quickly and the game was over.
Leading the Wildcats tonight were Kenyan Johnston and Hunter Mosher, both with 16 points, followed by Nick Stever and Sebastian Archer with 9 each. Hunter added 11 rebounds to his stat line and Luke Marsh crashed the boards for 8 rebounds as well. The Cats shared the ball well this evening with 13 total assists, led by Kenyan Johnston with 4 and Peyton Burton with 2.
Montague hosts the Whitehall Vikings next on Tuesday, February 13th at 7:00 for another West Michigan Conference game.
